Stew graduated from college in 1972 and started his career as an accountant but after about 5 years, decided that in order to achieve the goals he had for his life, he needed to be in his own business.
He launched his entrepreneurial career and for the next 10 years was involved in a number of different business endeavors until he finally decided that his real love was the real estate business. He became a real estate agent in 1985 and was very lucky to quickly realized that those who made the most money were not the agents who worked for others, but the investors who bought and sold and worked for themselves. Armed with this knowledge, he started buying and selling real estate as an investor in 1986, and in 1989 started investing full time and has been doing it full time ever since.
For the first 10 years, his investing career focused in the residential market on foreclosed and distressed properties. Most of these properties required at least minor cosmetic repairs, and many needed major facelift work to make them marketable.
After a very successful 10 years that included foreclosures, rehabbing, assignments, subject to, short sales and numerous forms of creative financing, (all required to effectively work in the foreclosure business), he made the transition into the commercial arena, and has been doing that ever since.
Today, Stew is mainly focused in 2 areas. The 1st is being semi retired, and the 2nd is commercial real estate. In this market, He has worked on a wide variety of product including: hotels and motels, mobile home parks, office properties and buildings, apartment and multi-family properties, condo conversions, high rise properties, buying commercial paper, land development and raw land.
He has bought and sold or been on the business end of hundreds of real estate transactions, both large and small totaling well in excess of $40,000,000.
The success he has had as a well rounded real estate investor has also made Stew a sought after trainer and mentor in the field of commercial real estate and real estate investing.
